summer promises freedom and lightheartedness
an expectation that is hard to life up to
I imagine myself being really there, enjoying the sound of leaves in wind
I thought this was is about summer
but even in attempts to stay on the surface
feelings of unease started to creep in
somehow, unconsciously, I am drawn to what left a trace from the past
exposed aggregate concrete, connections
In this work, I weave together snapshots from the past thirteen years with staged photographs that reconstruct memories of which no visual record exists. These are the moments once overlooked, fragments that seemed insignificant at the time, yet now surface with quiet intensity, both tender and unsettling. By revisiting the past with a clarity I didn’t have when I was a teenager i am able to admit suppressed feelings to myself.
What emerges is the story of a summer that never truly took place. Its scenes stretch from the village of my childhood to the city where I live now.
